History

In October 1980, in Euroa Australia, the inaugural Golden Shears World Council formalized a global constitution including aims and objectives. Foundation members were Golden Shears International, Masterton NZ; Euroa Shearing Association, Australia; and Royal Bath & West and Southern Counties Society of Great Britian, UK.

As of 2012, World Council membership includes:

• Northern Ireland
• Scotland
• Wales
• South Africa
• Norway
• France
• United States of America
• Spain

At the World Championships in Wales 2010 27 countries registered and participated.
